Everyone is on a journey and people like to know what direction they are heading. Our Discipleship Pathway helps us to know where we are on our faith journey. The Discipleship Pathway doesn't have a starting and ending point. We continue along the pathway our entire life and bring others along with us.
Knowing God is the foundation to everyone’s discipleship pathway. Placing your faith in Jesus Christ you have God also (John 12:44-50). We grow in knowledge of God by attending church services, prayer, and study of the Scriptures. Our Midweek Bible and Book Studies are a great opportunity to study from Scripture or maybe a specific topic from the Bible. Midweek Studies are typically 8 – 12 weeks in duration and follow a tri-mester schedule (Spring, Summer, and Fall).
Our faith journey is our own but God never intended for us to do it alone. In the beginning of creation God told Adam is was not good for man to be alone (Gen. 2:18). This is why building your faith family is vital to your Discipleship Pathway. Community is found in smaller groups which is why LIFE Groups are important.
When you know Jesus and His power to over come sin you can’t help but want to tell others about Him. Jesus even commands us to go and make disciples (Matt. 28:19). A disciple is someone who is learning along with you. On your Discipleship Pathway you should be discipled and also discipling others. Discipleship is more intimate than the faith family you have in LIFE Groups. Discipleship has accountability and spiritual disciplines at its core.
Your serving in ministry is an outpouring of your faith (James 2:18). It won’t take long for you to realize that you are called to service in your faith journey. It might look like serving in a ministry in the church, local missions, international missions. It very well could look like you being called to full time Gospel ministry. You LIVING SENT is again another part of the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19) and GOING!
LIFE at FBCU
LIFE Groups at FBCU stands for Learning, Involvement, Friendship and Encouragement. As followers in Christ, these four things are essential to spiritual growth. While coming to a Sunday service is great and essential in its own way, there are so many aspects of our walk with Christ that are difficult to accomplish apart from being connected to other believers in a small group.
Midweek at FBCU
On Wednesday nights we provide opportunities for spiritual growth with others in Bible study. A typical study will last ten to twelve weeks. Our midweek discipleship opportunities follow a semester schedule.
